As they are practising their appeasement policy they try to show favours in small matters. On the day after the fall of Hongkong, they asked all Chinese who were in the service of the Hongkong Government under the British to register themselves at an office. They reemploy them and even give them higher pay, but when pay day comes they are paid in Japanese Military notes.
